THE NEED FOR MORE POWER AND EFFICIENCY

After you've done some other mods and maybe and exhaust system you may be interested in changing the engine tune to compliment the parts you've already bolted on.

By using a programmer or a chip you can make radical changes to your diesel trucks power output. You can make your car more efficient on fuel for the long trips this summer. The great thing about having a programmer is you can change your "tune" to match your mood or what you might be doing with your truck/car during the week.

WHY TUNE?

We quickly yearn for more power in our Cars & Trucks & Suv. As we start to investigate the options we quickly learn that cars are far from fully tuned. The aim of most manufacturers is to achieve an average power figure as defined in their sales brochure, optimum fuel economy to fit into the tax bands and finally to produce a car that is reliable.

Thinking of making some modifications to your diesel to pull more trailer and keep up with traffic? You did a lift to your truck and changed the tire size and now the tranny shift points are way out of whack and killing your mileage. You added all sorts of bolt on bits to your car and yet it just doesn't seem to have the pull that you thought it would. All these things are great reasons to "tune" your machine.

Depending on your car’s make, model and year the benefits of chip programming vary wildly. For example on a late 90’s LT1 or LS1 5.7 liter engine upgraded with re-tuning it is not uncommon to gain anywhere from 20 to 40 horsepower and/or torque. On a smaller 4 cylinder high revving engine, tuning will provide a much smaller horsepower gain perhaps on the order of 10 hp or less, and it will be concentrated higher up in the rpm band as well. Each manufacturer makes their own claim as to what can be gained with their chip programmers.
